Can anyone give examples of how much their auto insurance went up in New Jersey (or another state) after a DWI

Question by sgriffiths13: Can anyone give examples of how much their auto insurance went up in New Jersey (or another state) after a DWI
I recently received a DWI conviction in S. Jersey (my first offense) and was wondering how much local insurance companies will raise my rate? If anyone has experienced this I’d really appreciate knowing how much their rates rose. Also, is there any certain companies that give better rates to those who have DWI convictions? I appreciate any help.

Thanks!

I was told by my insurance guy that a dwi (or owi they call it here) is like getting 1 and a half speeding tickets, as long as you weren’t involved in an accident.

6 years ago didn’t pay the dwi fine in NC, problem getting a license in another state?

Question by Jack T: 6 years ago didn’t pay the dwi fine in NC, problem getting a license in another state?
Over 6 years ago in NC I was charged with a DWI and was convicted (first offense). I was stupid, and after being convicted I didn’t pay the fine. Since then I have been working out of the country and had no need for a driver’s license. Now I will be moving back to the states and will be needing a driver’s license. Given that the DWI is 6 years old and I will be in another state, will I have a problem getting a license? Should I call the NC DMV and ask, or is it so old that I shouldn’t even bother? I wouldn’t want to jog their memory if it isn’t necessary, if you know what I mean…

I was charged with a dui, i live in the state of california, does anybody know of any good dui attorneys?

Question by kevin k: I was charged with a dui, i live in the state of california, does anybody know of any good dui attorneys?

I recommend that you interview several attorneys who specialize in the defense of DUI

You can look up attorneys who specialize in DUI Defnese in the Yellow Pages or you can go to The County Law library and look up attorneys in the Martindal Hubble Directory of Attorneys

Ask each attorney about his experience with DUI cases.

How many cases has he defended recently. What was the outcome of those cases.

Also a good interview question is to ask the attorney if you were not available to defend me, please give me the names of three attorneys that you respect and would recommend that I contact to ask them to defend me.

After you have done this you will have a very good idea fo what your prospects are and who the best attorneys are.

You will know much better who the good DUI attorneys are in your area than anyone here on this web site.

I do recommend that you hire a good attorney with a substantial amount of recent successful experience in the Defense of DUI.

One thing to keep in mind is that Blood Alcohol levels as measured by the Police are often 50% higher than the true Blood Alcohol level when measured by a reputable Medical Laboratory.

However it takes a very good and experienced attorney to make that defense successfully for you.

That alone often means the difference between a conviction and an acquittal.

The consequences of a DUI conviction are devastating. It is very important that you hire the best attorney that you can find.

the interview process that I have given you will help you uncover the best attorney that there is for the defense of your DUI Arrest.

If you had a valid HI license pulled for DUI, you can try applying to DMV for a work license or a hardship. If you were driving unlicensed, they will probably not grant you one till your current DUI status is resolved

How can I look up a DWI from about 20 years ago, that happened in a different state?

Question by pretty + poisonous: How can I look up a DWI from about 20 years ago, that happened in a different state?
I would like to get more information about a DWI (driving while intoxicated) that occured about 20 years ago. It was also in a different state than the one I live in, so I can’t go down to the police office or whatever and ask them.

It was one of my immediate family members that got arrested, if it makes a difference.

Considering the age of the DWI, you would likely have to contact the police department or court where the DWI occurred. Depending on the office it may be able to be done over the phone. There is also the possibility that the paperwork could be gone for good. Many states did not go to electronic storage of DWI’s until the late 90′s.

Q&A: What are the penalties for DUI in Washington state?

Question by Princess C: What are the penalties for DUI in Washington state?
My ex-husband got two DUI’s in January 2008. He skipped a summer court date and got warrants. He went to court and was given a new court date in mid-October. In early October, he was arrested again, possibly for a third DUI, I’m not sure, it may have been driving without a license. He skipped his mid-Oct. court date and got warrants again. Now he’s in jail and has court early next month. Any ideas what he’s gonna get?
Lillie, I will not help him because he’s my ex-husband. We were married seven years and he was emotionally and verbally abusive, a liar, cheater, drug addict, and alcoholic. While we were still married I did everything in my power to help him every possible way I knew how… but he’s on his own now.
LOL goGotro… yes, he’s white, no he’s not rich. He cleans up pretty well for court but he’s been in jail for two weeks now… do they let you shave in jail? I don’t know, never been there, nor do I need to shave… : )

How Much Car Insurance Coverage Do You Need in Ohio State?

How Much Car Insurance Coverage Do You Need in Ohio State?

Ohio requires every driver that operate or park a vehicle on the highway to be covered with insurance. The bodily injury liability insurance limit for per person is ,500. The limit for all the persons in the bodily injury liability insurance is ,500. The limit for the property damage liability is ,500. Ohio follows the tort system when an accident occurs. The tort system requires you to prove that you are at fault otherwise the insurance company won’t offer coverage. The uninsured/underinsured bodily injury motorist coverage is not required by Ohio. Though Ohio did not require you to purchase this coverage, you should buy it. The uninsured/underinsured coverage offers compensation if the other person that is responsible for the accident is not covered.

It is not necessary to buy the car insurance. If you choose to not meet the insurance minimum, you must possess a ,000 bond which is from an licensed surety company. The ,000 bond can also be obtained from the insurance carrier. The certificate of proof of financial responsibility can also be used to establish financial responsibility. The certificate must be signed by a licensed insurance agent. The Bureau of Motor Vehicle (BMV) certificate should show that you have a cash deposit of ,000. The BMV certificate of self insurance can be used as roof of financial responsibility by people that have more than 26 vehicles.

The cost of the car insurance can be expensive for first time driver. If you have a good driving record, you can get discount for the insurance coverage. If you purchase all your insurance from the company, you may get a cheaper premium rate.

Your vehicle will be suspended if you are unable to provide an insurance proof when stopped by the law enforcement officer. After your vehicle is suspended by the BMV, you will receive a letter. The letter request that you submit the insurance policy proof and reinstatement fee to the specified address. Alternatively, you can attend the traffic court and show the car insurance proof. The BMV will randomly select a driver and ask him to show the insurance proof. When you receive the notice, you must show your insurance proof within the allotted time. If you fail to provide insurance proof, your vehicle registration will be suspended. If this is the first time you fail to show proof, your car driving license will be suspended for 90 days.
