POINTS SYSTEM
Texas DPS points remain on the driving record for three years from the date of conviction. For each moving violation conviction, the Texas DPS will assign points as follows:
Two points for a moving violation conviction in Texas or another state; Three points for a moving violation conviction in Texas from a car accident; Two points for violation of child safety seat laws.
POINTS SURCHARGES
Texas DPS reviews the driving record each year and if the driving record reflects six or more points during the prior 3 year period, a surcharge will be assessed.
Drivers may be required to pay for one or more years if six or more points continue to stay on the driver record. The driver is required to pay a 0 surcharge for the first 6 points and for each additional point. Surcharges may vary with each annual assessment if convictions are added or removed from the driving record.
Drivers will be notified by mail to the address on record [make sure your address is updated on your driver’s license] with the Texas DPS of a surcharge is assessed. To make payments on surcharges, you can contact (800-688-6882). Driver’s licenses will be suspended for failure to pay the surcharges and you may also have to pay other costs such as service and collection fees.

A number of notable Texas traffic and driving laws meant to grow
safety on the roads and drivers
education cognisance go into effect on September 1.
Motor vehicle operators under the age of Automobile operators
will now have a harder time getting traffic violations elminated
from their 25. SB 1005 provides that if a driver younger than
automobile operators years of age commits a traffic offense
classified as a moving violation, the judge must necessitate the
driver to complete a classroom based or online defensive
driving course. In addition, if the driver holds a
provisional driver license – in other words, is under operators
years of age – they must submit to a Texas Department of Public
Safety road test in addition to taking an offline or online defensive
driving course. Failure by the driver to meet this
requirement will result in a final conviction for that traffic
offense.
Proof of insurance will be enforced through the new Texas law SB
1670. This law requires the Department of Insurance, in
conjunction with Texas Dept. of Transportation and other
authorities, to constitute a substantiation program for
automobile insurance in order to try and trim back the total of
uninsured motor vehicle operators.
SB 1257 prohibits use of wireless communications equipment
(including cellular telephones) for the first six months after
teenagers get their driver licenses. The bill also interdicts
passenger bus drivers transferring those under 18 from utilizing
wireless communications hardware, except in emergencies or when
the vehicle is stopped. Use of wireless equipment has become
omnipresent and is under suspicion of stimulating accidents.
Many of the items addressed by by these laws are discussed in
the available State of Texas defensive driving courses offered
online and in classroom settings. Prices could vary for drivers safety
courses but the lower limit they can be by law in the state
of Texas is .

A picture of my weekly 240sx meet.
This is 5 photos stitched together. I stood on the top of a 3 ton moving truck that just happened to be there. I had a friend hand me my tripod up so I could do these long exposures.
i like shooting long exposure at car events because it puts the people out of focus. People always have silly looks on thier faces when they are trying to explain stuff to each other. (or act like the goof ball in the middle).
This was one of our larger meets. By the time I got my camera out half the people had left. We ended up going to the Japanese convienence store and then heading home.
We decided not to hit our usually canyon. The Police have been setting up "Smog Checks" at night. They basically pull you over and give you a ticket for everything "wrong" with your car.
Sound like a violation of cival rights?? Yeah, I am positive it is. Kinda like those DUI stops they have here in California. They are supposed to have "cause" before they can pull you over.
But I guess they don’t care about civil rights anymore.
